Student Reach International is now on Twitter!

You may have heard in the past week about Ashton Kutcher's Twitter challenge to CNN. Kutcher showed that one individual can have just as much reach as a media conglomerate like CNN. Now SRI is jumping on the Twitter wagon, and we hope you'll follow us! Twitter is a powerful micro-blogging site allows users to post status updates on the fly. It has gained tremendous popularity over  the past year, and truly brings digital media and mass communication to everyday people like you and I.

Student Reach International will initiate development planning in Bagamoyo, Tanzania this summer at the IMUMA Orphanage. Supporting nearly fifty children, IMUMA is currently unable to provide adequate education, shelter and food leaving the children vulnerable to living an impoverished future.

SRI is developing a long-term sustainable income plan for IMUMA so that the children are healthy, educated and well-fed. To assess the financial need of IMUMA, we will be conducting research through June and July of 2009. Pinky Langat will lead the development of a feeding plan for IMUMA, which involves conducting a nutritional study of the children and community at large. If funding permits, SRI will also be installing energy efficient lights and building a dining area this summer at the IMUMA Orphan and Vulnerable Child Centre. The team will be researching potential income opportunities in the Bagamoyo District that IMUMA could manage.

To fund the development plans for IMUMA, SRI is launching the IMUMA Project Campaign later this month. University of Guelph students Alicia Grant and Richelle Bird have developed a dogtag necklace campaign. If you are interested in joining the IMUMA Project Campaign, making a contribution for this summer's development plans or learning more about our work in Tanzania, contact info@student-reach.com.
